United's Tchouameni Pursuit Blocked by Real Madrid
Manchester United have found their man. They just can’t get near him.
Aurelien Tchouameni, long admired at Old Trafford as the perfect heir to Casemiro, has been firmly locked behind Real Madrid’s vault door. United have tracked the Frenchman for some time, viewing him as the ideal defensive anchor for a midfield still in flux after Casemiro’s departure and uncertainty around Manuel Ugarte. On paper, the fit is obvious.
Reality is brutal.
Madrid’s message to United is short and sharp: Tchouameni is not for sale.
Since arriving from AS Monaco in 2022, the 26-year-old has grown from expensive prospect into a central pillar of the European champions’ midfield. He is under contract until 2028, protected by a €1 billion release clause that does more than deter suitors; it underlines the club’s absolute intention to keep him in the Spanish capital.
The only scenario in which Madrid would even open the door is one they know all too well. If Tchouameni himself were to ask out, the club would treat it in the same way they handled Casemiro’s move to Manchester United in 2022: player-led, club-controlled, and only at a premium. Even then, the bar is set sky-high. Any sale would start at a minimum of €120 million.
Mourinho Puts His Stamp on Madrid’s Midfield
As if the numbers were not daunting enough for United, the dugout has now closed ranks around Tchouameni as well.
New Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is understood to see the French international as a cornerstone of his project. The Portuguese coach wants to build his midfield around Tchouameni’s blend of physical presence, tactical discipline, and composure on the ball. When Mourinho circles a player in red ink, that player does not usually leave.
The financial picture only hardens Madrid’s position. Tchouameni already sits among the club’s highest earners, with a salary package of around €15.5 million per year including bonuses. Matching that at Old Trafford would be one challenge; just getting Madrid to the table looks impossible right now.
Instead of preparing for a blockbuster sale, the European champions are moving in the opposite direction. Early talks have begun over a contract extension that would run to 2031 and bring an improved salary, a clear signal that Madrid see Tchouameni not just as part of their present, but as a midfield anchor for the next decade.
For United, the view is clear and distant. They can admire, they can enquire, but unless the player forces the issue, they are chasing a ghost.
While United Knock, Madrid Aim at Olise
If Madrid are immovable over Tchouameni, they are anything but passive in the market.
The Spanish giants are preparing for what could become one of the most expensive transfers in football history, with reports indicating they are ready to commit up to €220 million to sign Bayern Munich forward Michael Olise.
The proposed package is staggering: €190 million guaranteed, with a further €30 million tied to performance-related bonuses. Should the deal go through at those figures, it would sit alongside Neymar’s transfer from Barcelona to PSG in the elite bracket of all-time record moves.
Inside the Bernabeu offices, Olise has climbed to the top of the attacking wishlist. His displays at the FIFA World Cup have accelerated that rise, convincing decision-makers that he is the right profile to spearhead the next phase of Madrid’s forward line. The idea of Real Madrid preparing a €220 million offer for Olise has quickly become one of the defining stories of this transfer window.
Madrid see a forward in his prime years, technically refined, tactically flexible, and capable of lifting an already star-studded squad. He fits their current recruitment strategy almost perfectly.
Bayern Dig In Over Their Star
There is a problem, though, and it wears red.
Bayern Munich are in a position of strength and have no intention of rolling over. The German champions are under no financial pressure to sell and are fully aware that Olise’s emergence over the past year has made him one of the most coveted attackers in Europe. His performances have only driven his value higher, and Bayern know it.
Any negotiation, then, will be long and unforgiving. Bayern are determined to retain one of their most valuable assets unless an extraordinary offer lands on the table and ticks every box. Madrid’s willingness to push towards €220 million shows just how far they are prepared to go, but that does not guarantee a breakthrough.
Olise’s rise in Munich has been rapid and decisive. He has become central to Bayern’s attacking identity, and clubs do not casually part with players like that, no matter how glamorous the suitor.
So the picture at the top of European football sharpens.
Manchester United stare at a closed door marked Tchouameni. Real Madrid, unyielding over their midfield lynchpin, turn their firepower towards one of Bayern’s crown jewels. The money is ready, the stakes are enormous.
Now the question is simple: who blinks first, Bayern Munich or a club that has built an era on getting its man?
