Tottenham Signs Sávio from Manchester City: A Bold Move

Tottenham have landed Sávio from Manchester City in a statement deal that underlines the club’s ambition under Roberto De Zerbi.

The 22-year-old Brazilian winger, who will go by Sávio at his new club, arrives for £75m, with the fee potentially rising by a further £10m in add-ons. It is the kind of number that says he is not coming to make up the numbers. He is coming to shape the attack.

“It’s taken a while but I’m very happy to be here,” Sávio said after completing the move. “It’s a wonderful opportunity at a brilliant club with one of the best managers in the world.”

De Zerbi did little to play down expectations. The head coach has built his reputation on high-tempo, front-foot football, and Sávio fits that blueprint.

“Sávio is a player who brings energy, imagination and quality in wide positions,” De Zerbi said. “He has the courage to attack defenders and the ability to change a game with his creativity.”

That is exactly what Tottenham are paying for: a winger who will run at full-backs, commit defenders and tilt tight games. A player to lift the tempo and the crowd.

And the rebuild is not stopping there. Another Manchester City forward, Omar Marmoush, is also expected to join Spurs, adding further firepower to an attack already being heavily reshaped.

If that deal is completed, Marmoush will become the club’s fifth £50m-plus signing of the summer, following Sávio, Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke. The spine is being rebuilt with serious money and clear intent.

At the back, experience has been added without transfer fees. Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson have both arrived on free transfers, giving De Zerbi proven defensive options to balance the influx of younger, big-money talent.

Tottenham are not just tweaking around the edges. They are tearing up the old script and writing a new one — with Sávio cast firmly in a leading role.
