Kylian Mbappé Signs Deal with On Sportswear
Kylian Mbappé has ended his long-running partnership with Nike, signing a headline deal with Swiss sportswear brand On as the company launches a bold move into football.
The agreement, announced on Friday, brings one of the game’s biggest global stars together with a fast-rising brand better known until now for running and tennis shoes. It marks a significant shift in the boot and lifestyle market, where Nike, adidas and Puma have long dominated the biggest names.
“Today, Swiss sportswear brand On announces its entry into football alongside football champion Kylian Mbappe, marking the beginning of the brand’s journey into the world’s biggest sport,” the company said in a statement.
For Mbappé, it is more than just a logo change.
“From the beginning, what drew me to On was the opportunity to build something entirely new together that will help shape tomorrow’s game,” the France captain said. “I want to bring my experience and perspective into what we create, push what’s possible through innovation, and always stay true to the joy of football. We have a shared dream, and this is only the beginning.”
The value and length of the contract were not disclosed, but the symbolism is clear: one of Nike’s most prominent football faces has walked away after a relationship that dated back to the start of his professional career.
On is not stepping lightly into the sport. The company has also appointed 1998 World Cup winner Thierry Henry as its football director, adding another French icon to the project and a sharp football mind to help shape its strategy and product direction.
Founded in 2010, On built its reputation in performance running and later expanded into tennis. Tennis great Roger Federer is among its shareholders and, like Mbappé, previously broke from Nike to align himself with the Zurich-based brand.
Now On has a World Cup-winning captain, a World Cup-winning legend on the touchline, and a clear intent to disrupt football’s established order.
