Tottenham Finalizes £85m Deal for Savinho and Advances Marmoush Talks

Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with Manchester City to sign Savinho in a deal worth up to £85m, with the London club also advancing negotiations over a separate move for Omar Marmoush.

The transfer, confirmed by David Ornstein of The Athletic after Fabrizio Romano first flagged the agreement, will see Spurs pay an initial £75m for Savinho, with a further £10m in add-ons. Around £5m of those bonuses are described as “highly achievable,” underlining just how heavily Tottenham are investing in a winger who is still relatively unproven at the very top level but regarded as an outstanding talent.

This is not a straightforward, one-track transfer. The numbers on Savinho’s deal are understood to be influenced by a parallel move involving Marmoush, which is also described as being at an advanced stage. Tottenham are expected to bid slightly lower for the forward in a way that could help Manchester City reduce the impact of Eintracht Frankfurt’s sell-on clause.

It is the kind of manoeuvre that raises eyebrows, but not one that is unusual in modern football. Clubs frequently structure packages across multiple deals to shift where the financial burden falls. Tottenham themselves have walked this path before, most notably when the structure of Giovani Lo Celso’s switch from Real Betis effectively squeezed Paris Saint-Germain on their own sell-on terms.

£85m is a huge outlay.

Yet it lands on a player who has made it clear he is desperate to join Spurs and fits the club’s drive to add high-ceiling, attacking talent. Tottenham’s recent success in offloading unwanted squad members also softens the blow; once the window closes, the net spend is likely to look far more measured than the headline fee suggests.

Supporters eager for an instant glimpse of Savinho may need to wait. The timing of the agreement means he is not expected to feature when Tottenham travel to Brentford this weekend. The plan is for him to join training swiftly once the formalities are complete, with a more realistic target being some involvement in the midweek League Cup tie at home to Charlton.

By then, there is a real possibility he will not be the only new arrival in the dressing room. If talks continue on their current track, Savinho could be joined by his Manchester City teammate Marmoush, adding a second attacking weapon to a Tottenham side clearly intent on reshaping its forward line in one bold swing.
