Tchouaméni Returns: Real Madrid Ready for La Liga Opener

Real Madrid’s midfield plans for the start of La Liga have cleared up at just the right moment. Aurélien Tchouaméni has shaken off the muscle strain that sidelined him from recent training sessions and is expected to be ready for the opening league clash with Espanyol.

Spanish radio journalist Arancha Rodríguez reported on Cope on Sunday that the French international “should be fit” for next Saturday’s trip, easing fears inside the club only days before the competitive action begins.

Tchouaméni had rejoined Real Madrid after his World Cup duties with France, but a muscular issue quickly interrupted his pre-season rhythm. He was initially forced to work away from the main group, following an individual programme while the rest of the squad built up towards the new campaign.

The recovery has gone in the right direction. Session by session, his workload increased, and he has moved closer to full integration with Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, just as the team hits the final stretch of its preparation.

Real Madrid face Schalke on Sunday in their last friendly of the summer. That match will serve as the final tune-up before they open their La Liga campaign away to Espanyol, with Tchouaméni now back in the frame to anchor the midfield from day one.
