Sevilla Targets Chelsea Striker Guiu for Attack Rebuild

Sevilla’s summer rebuild up front is not finished yet. With the clock ticking on the window, the Andalusian club have turned firmly towards Chelsea striker Guiu, identified as a priority to round off Luis Garcia’s attacking options, according to Mundo Deportivo.

They have already moved once in that area. Scottish forward Robbie Ure has arrived to freshen the frontline, but inside the club there is no doubt: one more pure No 9 is non-negotiable if Sevilla are to face the season with guarantees.

Head coach Luis Garcia and sporting director Jose Ignacio Navarro are aligned. They want a third centre-forward, someone to walk straight into a battle for minutes with Ure and Isaac Romero. If Sevilla can strike a deal, Guiu would be thrown into that internal fight for a starting place from day one.

Sevilla’s need is born out of an exodus. The Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan has seen its attacking hierarchy ripped out in a single window. Akor Adams, the main reference in the box last season, has been sold to Venezia, stripping Garcia of his most reliable focal point.

The departures did not stop there. Alexis Sanchez and Neal Maupay have also left during this market, taking experience, goals and a lot of dressing-room weight with them. What remains is a thin forward department for a club that expects a gruelling domestic campaign.

Sevilla had initially looked elsewhere for a solution. George Ilenikhena was the first big target, with a loan move explored for the highly rated Nigerian. That door slammed shut almost as quickly as it opened. Two spectacular goals for Al Ittihad changed the landscape, and with Ilenikhena suddenly out of reach, Sevilla’s gaze snapped back to Guiu.

In London, the situation has turned stark for the 20-year-old. Chelsea have chosen not to assign him a squad number for the current season, a blunt message about where he sits in their plans. That decision has pushed his camp into action, sounding out exits and listening to proposals.

Sevilla’s interest is not a sudden whim. Guiu’s name had already circulated around the Sanchez-Pizjuan at the very start of the summer as a serious option. Now, as reported by Spanish outlet Abc, those initial conversations have hardened into a renewed, formal push to bring him back to Liga.

The formula is clear: a loan. Sevilla see a temporary deal as the only realistic way to make the numbers work while still adding the level of striker they want.

Guiu is into his second season in English football after his move from Barcelona’s academy to Chelsea. His record in blue shows 29 appearances and eight goals, the bulk of them coming during the club’s victorious 2025 Conference League run, where he carved out a useful role in Europe.

A brief spell at Sunderland in the Championship followed, but it never really caught fire: three games, one goal, and a quick return to west London. Since then, his path into Chelsea’s first team has effectively closed.

On paper, his future still belongs to the Premier League side, with three full years left on his contract. On the pitch, though, a swift departure feels inevitable. For Sevilla, and for Guiu, a season back in Spain on loan could be exactly what both sides need: a club desperate for goals, and a young striker desperate for minutes.
