Serhou Guirassy Celebrates 100 Games for Dortmund

Serhou Guirassy needed a moment for it to sink in.

"I'm very, very happy to have played a hundred games for Dortmund – I didn't even realize that," said the 30-year-old forward, a hint of surprise matching the milestone he had just reached.

Signed from VfB Stuttgart in the summer of 2024, Guirassy has crammed those 100 competitive appearances into just over two years, a workload that underlines his durability as much as his importance. He has barely missed a beat, carrying the physical load of a central striker while maintaining a ruthless edge in front of goal.

The latest evidence came in the 3-2 home win over Villarreal CF. Under the lights, with the tempo rising and the margins thin, Guirassy struck twice, taking his tally in a BVB shirt to 63 and then 64 goals. Two finishes, same outcome: a reminder that give him a sight of goal and he usually makes it count.

The numbers put him in rare company at Borussia Dortmund. Only Erling Haaland has scored more often in his first burst of games for the club, the Norwegian phenomenon plundering 86 goals in 89 competitive appearances for the Black & Yellow. That benchmark still towers over everyone, but Guirassy is now operating in that slipstream, not lost in the shadow.

He has also matched one of the club’s greats. Lothar Emmerich, a legend of the 1960s, scored 64 times in his first 100 Bundesliga matches for Dortmund. Guirassy’s haul across all competitions now sits on that same figure of 64 after his brace against Villarreal, a modern striker drawing level with a historic name.

And on the European stage, the picture is just as striking. In the Champions League, only Marco Reus stands ahead of Guirassy in Dortmund’s scoring charts. For a player who admits he did not even clock the 100-game mark as it arrived, the milestones are piling up fast.
