Rhian Brewster Ruled Out for Derby County's Next Matches

Derby County have been dealt an early-season setback with forward Rhian Brewster ruled out for at least the next two matches following concussion.

The 26-year-old was withdrawn after just 22 minutes of Saturday’s 3-0 Championship defeat by West Ham United, his afternoon cut short after feeling unwell during the first half. He later reported dizziness and sickness and did not return.

Brewster has featured in all five of Derby’s league fixtures so far, starting the last two as John Eustace began to build his attack around the former Liverpool and Sheffield United striker.

"He's feeling a lot better, he was really groggy on Saturday night, he felt dizzy and sick during the game," Rams boss John Eustace told BBC Radio Derby, outlining the immediate concern around the player’s condition.

The frustration for Eustace runs deeper than just the medical protocols. Brewster was finally stringing games together.

"It's a big blow because I was really excited to give him a run of games - he's a top performer at this level and he needs to get fit and get games under his belt so it's a shame now for him to miss another couple," Eustace said.

Derby now prepare for Wednesday night under the lights at Pride Park, when they host West Bromwich Albion on 9 September (19:45 BST) without one of their key attacking options at a time they had hoped he was just getting started.
