Rangers Supporters Banned After Old Firm Disorder

Two Rangers supporters have been banned from every football ground in the UK for five years after ugly disorder marred an Old Firm Scottish Cup quarter-final in March.

The pair were picked out on video as chaos spilled from the stands and onto the pitch at the end of the tie, staining one of the showpiece fixtures of the Scottish season.

Mackenzie Graham, 21, from Glasgow, was filmed vaulting a fence and charging onto the pitch, then repeatedly goading others to follow him. The footage shows him at the front of a group invading the playing surface as stewards and police scrambled to contain the situation.

In a separate incident, 19-year-old John Smith from Peterhead hurled a bottle towards Celtic supporters in the stand. Officers moved quickly and apprehended him amid the disorder.

The trouble erupted at full-time and continued as authorities tried to move supporters to safety. Children and disabled fans were among those caught up in the disturbance as tensions flared around them.

Both men admitted the charges brought against them and have now been hit with five-year banning orders covering every football ground in the country – a stark reminder of the cost when the line between passion and violence is crossed.
