Rangers in Talks to Offload Nedim Bajrami to Al Taawoun

Nedim Bajrami’s time at Ibrox looks to be edging towards an early conclusion, with Rangers in negotiations to move the midfielder on before the close of the summer window.

The Albania international arrived from Sassuolo in August 2024, a signing framed as a creative spark for the Derek McInnes era. It never really caught light. Bajrami, now 27, struggled to impose himself in the Scottish Premiership and finished last season with just 12 league appearances to his name.

In a squad being reshaped at pace, that was never going to be enough.

Not in McInnes’ Plans

Bajrami is among a group of players informed they do not feature in McInnes’ plans for the coming campaign. Rangers are driving hard at recruitment, aiming to upgrade key areas before the deadline, and every spare wage and squad slot matters.

Offloading Bajrami would help clear the decks. It would also give the player the reset he needs after a stop-start year in Glasgow.

Saudi Interest Steps Up

Interest in Bajrami has been building quietly. Earlier this month, Ibrox News reported that clubs in Italy and Turkey were monitoring his situation, aware that he had slipped down the pecking order.

Now the picture is sharper.

According to Sunsport, Saudi Pro League side Al Taawoun have moved to the front of the queue and are in talks to take Bajrami on an initial loan. The proposed deal includes a future fee of around £2.5 million, a figure that would represent a clean exit route for Rangers if all parties are satisfied.

Negotiations are described as ongoing, with other unnamed clubs still hovering in the background, ready to make their move if discussions stall.

For Rangers, it is a straightforward equation: move on a fringe player, free up space, and keep the rebuild rolling. For Bajrami, it could be the chance to relaunch a career that never quite got started in Glasgow.
