Celtic Move Decisively for Hassan

While Rangers wrestle with refusals, Celtic are closing in on a winger of their own.

Haissem Hassan has been left out of Real Oviedo’s squad for their pre-season match against Le Havre, with the 24-year-old Egypt wide man the subject of a £9m bid from the Scottish champions and now waiting for the green light to undergo a medical.

The structure of the agreement is clear. Hassan is dealing with visa issues, but there is an agreement in place for him to join Celtic on a contract running until 2030. Real Oviedo stand to receive £6m up front, with a further £1.3m due if Celtic reach the Champions League proper.

Those clauses tell their own story. Celtic are betting that Hassan can help carry them to the group stage; Oviedo are betting that Celtic, as regular Premiership winners, will get there.

Crucially, there is no resistance from Spain. Real Oviedo head coach Julian Calero has made it plain they will not stand in Hassan’s way. No last-minute brinkmanship, no public posturing – just a club ready to cash in and move on.
