In Brazil for an event linked to his clothing brand, the AC Milan forward spoke openly about a future that looks increasingly likely to unfold away from San Siro. The setting was relaxed, the subject anything but.

“We'd already talked to the Rossoneri about the possibility of going elsewhere. But as long as I'm with them, I'll give it my all,” he said, laying out the tension between loyalty and ambition in a single line.

Between Milanello and the unknown

Leao is due back at Milanello on the 29th after his World Cup commitments, yet the road back to Lombardy is no longer straightforward. Reports in Turkey and Italy have already linked his camp with Fenerbahce, with negotiations said to be under way as his entourage tests the market.

On the Brazilian podcast “Podpah”, the 27-year-old went deeper into where things stand with AC Milan.

“I've already spoken to the club about the possibility of trying a new experience. I don't know if it will happen. I have to report to Milanello on the 29th, and while I'm there, I'll give my all, always respecting the club that has given me everything.”

There is no ultimatum in his words, no dramatic declaration. Instead, a player who sounds torn: contractually bound, emotionally attached, but increasingly drawn toward a different chapter.

An inconsistent season, a growing rift

Leao’s numbers in Serie A last season tell only half the story. Nine goals and three assists would be respectable for many forwards, yet they felt light for a player of his talent and status. His campaign swung between flashes of brilliance and long, frustrating lulls.

That inconsistency fed into a wider unease. The relationship between player and club, once one of the most promising in Italy, began to fray. By early June, Leao had already voiced thoughts of leaving, the rift no longer a rumour but a reality.

For all the uncertainty, Leao never strays far from gratitude when he speaks about AC Milan.

“I think it's a club that has helped me a lot in every way, but in life, you have ambitions for other things too. If it happens, I'll study my options, but I'll remain an AC Milan player.”

It is a careful line to walk. He is signalling openness to a move, acknowledging talks about “a new experience”, yet repeatedly stressing respect for the club that “has given me everything”.

So the picture is this: a forward with prime years ahead of him, a club that has nurtured him but may no longer fully satisfy his ambitions, and a market already circling. He will report to Milanello on the 29th. After that, the decision will no longer be theoretical.
