PSG Targets Ajax Winger Mika Godts Amid Barcola Exit

Paris Saint-Germain have set their sights on one of the Eredivisie’s brightest talents, opening talks with Ajax over Belgian winger Mika Godts, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.

The French champions are rebuilding their attack and have already moved aggressively. They are close to completing a deal for Maghnes Akliouche from AS Monaco, having beaten Liverpool to the Frenchman’s signature. Now, attention has swung to Amsterdam.

PSG push for Godts amid Ajax resistance

Godts has emerged as PSG’s next major attacking target, but Ajax are digging in. The Dutch club are determined to keep the 21-year-old after a breakout season that turned him into one of the league’s standout performers.

The key battle, though, may already be tilting towards Paris. The right-footed attacker has reportedly given the green light to a move, following what have been described as “direct positive talks” with PSG’s transfer chief Luis Ocampos. The player is on board. Convincing Ajax is the hard part.

Barcola on his way out

The urgency in Paris is clear. Bradley Barcola is expected to leave this summer after telling the club he will not extend his current contract, which runs until 2028. That stance has opened the door for a sale in this window rather than a slow-burning saga further down the line.

Liverpool are currently leading the race for Barcola, with the Premier League side preparing their first formal offer for the France international. If and when that bid lands, PSG’s forward line will suddenly look lighter than Luis Enrique would like.

Barcola’s likely departure strips away one of Enrique’s key options on the left flank. PSG have moved quickly, scouring the market for a replacement who can step into that role but also offer something different in tight attacking spaces.

Godts: Hazard comparisons and a breakout year

Godts fits that brief. He operates primarily from the left wing, cutting inside onto his stronger right foot, but he can also slot in as an attacking midfielder. That versatility appeals to a coach who constantly tweaks his attacking structure.

At Ajax, Godts has built a reputation for blistering acceleration, sharp close control and a calmness in front of goal that belies his age. His creativity and end product have already drawn comparisons in style to former Chelsea star Eden Hazard — lofty company for a player still at the start of his career, but a measure of how highly he is regarded.

The numbers back up the hype. Last season, Godts produced 17 goals and 15 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions, a haul that propelled him into the spotlight across Europe’s scouting departments.

His performances were rewarded at home, too. Godts was voted the 2025/26 Eredivisie Talent of the Year, edging out a strong field of nominees, including AZ’s Kees Smit, himself on the radar of several major clubs.

A pivotal summer in Paris

For PSG, the equation is clear. Lose Barcola, replace him with one of Europe’s most exciting young wingers, and hand Enrique a new, flexible weapon on the left side of the attack.

Ajax, though, know exactly what they have and are in no rush to cash in.

If PSG manage to prise Godts away from Amsterdam, it will not just be another line in their transfer list. It will be a statement that, even in a summer of change, their talent pipeline to the Parc des Princes remains firmly open.
