PSG Leads the Race for Mika Godts Amid Premier League Interest

Paris Saint-Germain have moved to the front of the queue for Ajax sensation Mika Godts – but Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham have all been invited to try and crash the deal.

The 21-year-old Belgian lit up Amsterdam last season. In a team that stuttered badly by Ajax standards, Godts still racked up 32 goal contributions and forced his way onto every major recruitment list in Europe. One breakout year, and he is suddenly one of the most coveted young attackers on the market.

PSG, searching for fresh attacking spark after missing out on RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, have now held what are described as positive talks over a move. The French champions are close to sealing a deal for Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche, yet football advisor Luis Campos is not easing off. He wants more firepower, more variety, and sees Godts as a tailor‑made fit for Luis Enrique’s long-term project.

Godts, for his part, is understood to be open to the move. The attraction is obvious: Paris, the Champions League stage, and a dressing room stacked with elite attacking talent. The risk is just as clear. Minutes will be hard-earned in what is arguably the deepest forward line in the game. Still, the player has not been put off.

As PSG’s interest hardened, intermediaries wasted no time. Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham have all been updated on the situation, having maintained varying levels of contact with Godts’ camp throughout the summer. The message: if you want to hijack this, now is the time.

Clubs' Interests

Each of the four Premier League clubs has its own angle.

• Arsenal are still hunting a left-sided attacker to complement their existing front line and add competition on that flank.
• Liverpool and Tottenham have been scouring the market for additional wide options all window, looking for players who can stretch the pitch and maintain their intensity over a long season.
• Manchester United’s brief is slightly different but just as urgent: a versatile forward who can operate across the front line, offering flexibility around their central striker.

Sources insist all four retain a genuine interest in the Belgium international. None has walked away.

There is, however, one major obstacle: Ajax.

The Dutch giants are determined not to lose one of their brightest young assets after a turbulent period for the club. TEAMtalk understands Ajax value Godts at around €60m (£51m), a figure that has not scared PSG off but underlines how hard any buyer will have to push.

Technical director Jordi Cruyff underlined the club’s stance in public over the weekend, speaking to De Telegraaf and making it clear Ajax will not be bullied into a sale.

“Ultimately, players like Godts will leave, but only at the right time and for the right price,” Cruyff said. “We want to keep him in Amsterdam for at least another year. He is not for sale and otherwise very difficult to buy.”

That is the line from Amsterdam: not for sale, at least not now, and certainly not cheaply.

Behind the scenes, though, PSG remain optimistic that a deal can be explored if talks continue and the numbers edge towards Ajax’s demands. They are used to operating at the top end of the market, and €60m for a 21-year-old with Godts’ ceiling sits firmly within their range.

Arsenal, Liverpool, United and Spurs are watching. For now, they are on the outside, tracking every twist. If PSG blink or Ajax soften, the race for one of Europe’s most exciting young attackers could turn from a controlled negotiation into a full-scale scramble before the window slams shut.
