Portsmouth Strengthen Defense with Benjamin Arthur Loan
Portsmouth have moved to strengthen their back line with the season-long loan capture of defender Benjamin Arthur from Premier League side Brentford.
The 20-year-old centre-half arrives at Fratton Park with a taste of top-flight football already on his CV. He spent part of last season in the Scottish Premiership with Celtic, making six appearances, and has three senior outings for Brentford under his belt.
Arthur is also well regarded on the international stage, having been capped by England up to Under-20 level.
John Mousinho's Comments
"We're thrilled to bring Benjamin here for the season to boost our defensive ranks," he said. "He possesses all the attributes you expect of a centre-back and is also more than comfortable with the ball at his feet.
"Despite his relatively young age, he already has experience of top-flight football, and we feel he can be a real asset as we look to progress in our third season in the Championship."
Arthur now steps into a Portsmouth side intent on kicking on again at Championship level, with his development and their ambition suddenly closely tied.
