Paris FC Targets Jonathan David as Immobile Successor

Paris FC have set their sights on Juventus forward Jonathan David as they scramble to reshape their attack after the shock retirement of Ciro Immobile, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

David, 26, arrived in Turin from Lille OSC on a free transfer last summer but never truly settled. Under Luciano Spalletti, his role has shrunk to the point where, as the Italian outlet reports, Juventus are ready to move him on and are actively pushing him towards the exit.

That has alerted Paris FC.

Liam Rosenior has already overseen significant change up front. Willem Geubbels was sold earlier in the summer and quickly replaced by Lassine Sinayoko, a move that initially looked like it would complete the attacking rebuild. Then Immobile stunned the dressing room last month, informing his teammates that he would retire instead of playing the extra season many inside the club had expected.

That decision ripped a hole straight through Rosenior’s plans.

Paris FC now want one more attacker to round out their options, and David has emerged as a leading candidate. A return to France would offer the Canada international the chance to reboot his career in a league where he previously thrived with Lille.

The path is anything but clear, though. La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Atlético Madrid are also in the race, providing heavyweight competition for his signature and potentially driving up both the financial and sporting stakes.

For David, the choice looks stark: fight for a fresh start in Paris with a central role in Rosenior’s project, or jump into Diego Simeone’s demanding machine in Madrid.
