Neymar is currently sidelined with a Grade 2 injury to his right hamstring, suffered in early September in a match against Palmeiras. After returning to Brazilian football, he rejoined Santos and extended his contract with the club through December 2026, a move framed as a homecoming and a chance to reboot his career where it first exploded.

For now, that reboot is on pause.

The club’s medical report projects a recovery window of four to eight weeks. That layoff will already cost him a place in the Copa Sudamericana quarterfinals against Atlético Mineiro, a key stage for Santos and a stage where Neymar would normally command the spotlight with the ball at his feet, not a phone in his hand.
