Michael Olise Shines with Hat-Trick and Neymar's Jersey

Michael Olise walked off the Allianz Arena pitch with the match ball under his arm and the player of the match award already a formality. By the time he left the stadium, he had something even more personal tucked away – a shirt from Neymar, signed and dedicated just to him.

Bayern Munich had just demolished Union Berlin 7-0, but this night belonged to Olise. He didn’t just score a hat-trick; he ran the entire show. Three goals, two assists, and long before the final whistle it felt like everyone inside the ground knew exactly who the headline act was.

Then came the surprise. As Olise made his way through the mixed zone, 25 years old and still looking slightly uncomfortable with all the attention, journalist Isabela Pagliari stepped forward with a package. Inside: a Neymar jersey, complete with a personal message from the Brazilian. Neymar had asked her to deliver it during her visit to Munich.

There was a clear logic behind the gesture. Olise has openly named Neymar, alongside Lionel Messi and Zinedine Zidane, as one of his footballing idols. Neymar’s peak years came at Paris Saint-Germain; now 34, he is winding down his career at Santos FC, back where it all began. From Brazil to Bavaria, the admiration has travelled both ways.

Right now, Olise is playing like someone worthy of that kind of recognition. The Union game was only his seventh competitive appearance of the season, yet it was already the fourth time he had been voted best player on the pitch. His numbers are brutal: 11 goal involvements so far, averaging one every 51 minutes.

Those closest to him inside the Bayern dressing room see more than just the stats. Harry Kane, who has quickly built a lethal understanding with Olise, did not hold back.

"I really enjoy playing with Michael, and I also like him a lot as a person. Not everyone gets to see his true personality, but he is a great character. He is completely different from how he comes across to outsiders," Kane said.

That last point matters. Olise is known for avoiding the spotlight. Even after a five-goal contribution in a 7-0 win, he turned down a television interview with Sky. His friend Jamal Musiala stepped in instead, happy to play the role of spokesman.

"That is what I am here for," Musiala joked, smiling as he faced the cameras in Olise’s place.

The performances, though, are making it harder for him to stay in the shadows. Up in the boardroom, the conversation has already shifted from form to legacy. Bayern’s board member for sport, Max Eberl, did not hesitate to place Olise among the game’s elite.

"For me, Michael Olise is also one of the candidates for the Ballon d'Or. He is one of the best players in the world," Eberl declared, name-checking him in the same breath as established and emerging stars. Alongside Kane, Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappe and Rodri, Olise is now being mentioned as a genuine contender.

A hat-trick, two assists, a standing ovation and a shirt from one of his idols – nights like this can define a season, sometimes even a career. If Olise keeps producing at this rate, the Neymar jersey might not be the last iconic souvenir he collects.
