Mason Mount to Miss Leeds United Match on Pre-Season Tour

Mason Mount is expected to sit out Manchester United’s next stop on their pre-season tour, with the midfielder set to miss Wednesday’s meeting with Leeds United at Croke Park.

The 27-year-old has been one of United’s standout performers in their opening three warm-up games, driving play from the number eight role with new signing Andrey Santos anchoring just behind him. Mount’s energy and sharpness had quickly made him central to Michael Carrick’s early plans.

That rhythm was checked in Gothenburg on Saturday. Mount took a kick to the foot in the opening minutes of the draw with Paris St-Germain and did not see out the first half. Carrick framed the substitution as precautionary, and Mount was later seen walking unaided as he headed for the team coach, a sight that initially eased fears of anything serious.

The concern has crept back. Mount has not trained since that game and is now expected to miss the Leeds fixture, denying Carrick another opportunity to refine a midfield that had begun to show promising balance.

Looking Ahead

Attention turns to the final pre-season outing against Ruben Amorim’s AC Milan in Wroclaw. United do not yet know if Mount will be ready for that one. With the competitive season looming, his availability there will tell its own story about how settled this new-look midfield can be by the time the real games start.
