Manchester United's Bold Move for Juventus Star Conceicao

Manchester United are moving aggressively to prise Francisco Conceicao away from Juventus, with a player-plus-cash offer built around Joshua Zirkzee emerging as the key to a complex summer reshuffle in Turin.

According to Sportmediaset, United have moved to the front of the queue for the Portuguese winger, who could walk away from Juventus after just two seasons. Liverpool are keeping a close eye on developments, but it is United who have stepped on the accelerator as Michael Carrick looks to inject pace and direct threat into his wide areas.

From loan gamble to €60m asset

Conceicao’s rise in Turin has been rapid. He arrived from Porto on loan in the summer of 2024, a low-risk punt that quickly turned into a cornerstone of Juventus’ rebuild. His impact under Igor Tudor was strong enough that the club moved swiftly to redeem him for €30 million, and he only grew in importance under Luciano Spalletti.

Now, that investment looks like a bargain. Juventus value the winger between €50m and €60m, a figure that reflects his status as a “fundamental piece” of the project and the level of interest coming from England. His direct running, work rate and knack for unlocking defences have not gone unnoticed across the Premier League.

The pressure from abroad is building. Liverpool are monitoring, but United are described as the most determined suitors, with a concrete proposal already taking shape.

United’s proposal: cash plus Zirkzee

Juventus may be quoting a premium fee, yet the deal on the table could look very different on the balance sheet. Sportmediaset report that United are prepared to offer around €30m plus Zirkzee to secure Conceicao.

For United, Zirkzee is no longer seen as central to their long-term plans. For the player, the prospect of returning to Serie A is attractive. That alignment opens the door to a swap that could suit everyone.

Juventus, for their part, are actively hunting a new forward this summer. Spalletti is understood to appreciate Zirkzee’s profile: a technically gifted striker who can link play, occupy defenders and still provide a penalty-box presence. That makes the Dutchman a particularly appealing makeweight for the Serie A giants, softening the blow of losing one of their most dynamic wide players.

The structure is simple on paper: Conceicao to Old Trafford, Zirkzee and cash to Turin. In practice, it is anything but simple.

Mendes at the controls

Enter Jorge Mendes. The super-agent is heavily involved in mediating talks between the two clubs and is working to shape a formula that satisfies both the financial and tactical demands on each side.

Mendes is expected to present a formal offer to the Juventus hierarchy at Continassa in the coming days. That meeting could prove decisive. The proposed swap is being viewed in some quarters as a near-ideal solution: Carrick gets the explosive winger he has been crying out for, while Juventus land a forward already proven in Serie A, plus a useful injection of cash to continue reshaping the squad.

If Mendes can thread this needle, it would be one of the standout moves of the window.

Domino effect: David pushed towards the exit

Any arrival for Zirkzee in Turin would trigger immediate consequences. Juventus’ attacking department is already crowded, and room will have to be made.

Jonathan David is emerging as the primary candidate to depart. With Lois Openda heading to Lyon and the expected arrival of Randal Kolo Muani, the club no longer consider the Canadian untouchable. The hierarchy are ready to sanction a sale at around €30m despite David’s desire to stay.

Interest is already forming. Crystal Palace and Aston Villa have made initial enquiries, sensing an opportunity to add a proven goalscorer at a reasonable price. In France, Rennes and Paris FC are also showing firm intent, aware that a player of David’s profile and age rarely comes onto the market without a bidding war.

Once Zirkzee steps through the door, that war could start in earnest.

A transfer that could reshape two attacks

For United, landing Conceicao would be a statement. A young, high-ceiling winger, already hardened by Serie A, walking into Carrick’s dressing room as the new reference point out wide. For Juventus, swapping him for Zirkzee and cash would mark a clear pivot towards a different attacking structure under Spalletti.

Two heavyweights, one super-agent, and a deal that would ripple through the forward markets in England, Italy and France. If this swap goes through, it will not just change one team’s attack – it could redraw the front lines of an entire summer window.
