Liverpool’s winger hunt is turning into one of the summer’s most tangled transfer stories – and patience is wearing thin on all sides.

Liverpool push hard for Minteh

With Mohamed Salah gone to Trabzonspor, Liverpool’s recruitment team has zeroed in on wide players as the clock ticks towards the deadline. Victor Munoz has already arrived from Osasuna, but the real drama sits around Yankuba Minteh.

On Friday, Gambian journalist Foday Manneh revealed that Brighton had rejected a second Liverpool bid for Minteh, following an initial £50m offer that was also turned down. Both clubs, though, are understood to be optimistic that they can eventually bridge the gap.

Manneh wrote on X that a fresh proposal from Liverpool had been knocked back, but that negotiations remain alive. Later, Fabrizio Romano backed up that line, adding a crucial detail: Minteh has already said yes to Liverpool’s project.

According to Romano, Liverpool and Minteh have a “broad verbal agreement” on personal terms, with the player giving the green light to the move. Brighton, however, have rejected a £60m bid, forcing Liverpool back to the table again as talks roll on.

The pursuit is clear. The finish line is not.

Mbaye and Barcola grow restless

That prolonged chase has consequences elsewhere. In Paris, Ibrahim Mbaye and Bradley Barcola are watching the same saga unfold – and, according to L’Equipe, they are growing tired of waiting.

The French outlet, via Get French Football News, reports that both Mbaye and Barcola feel their transfer situations have dragged on too long. Both wingers are on Liverpool’s radar. Both are currently stuck in limbo.

The tension is already visible in team plans. L’Equipe claims neither player is expected to travel with Luis Enrique’s squad for Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 opener against Rennes, a clear signal that their futures remain unresolved.

For Mbaye, the frustration could soon turn into action. With only ten days left in the window, the report suggests the Senegal international may look elsewhere if Liverpool do not move decisively. The stalemate is not just about timing; it is about money.

A €20m stand-off

RMC Sport, as relayed in the same report, outlines the financial gap. PSG value Mbaye at €70m. Liverpool are at €50m. The difference – €20m – is currently blocking any breakthrough.

Negotiations between PSG and Liverpool over the France international are said to be progressing, but slowly. Talks over Mbaye’s future, though, are moving at an even more glacial pace, heightening the risk that he walks away from the idea of Anfield altogether.
