Liverpool Intensifies Pursuit of Bradley Barcola

Liverpool’s pursuit of Bradley Barcola is very much alive, with senior figures at Anfield locked in direct talks with Paris Saint-Germain as they push to reshape their forward line before the window slams shut.

Mohamed Salah has gone, surprisingly joining Trabzonspor at the end of last season, and Liverpool’s response has been aggressive. One winger is already through the door in Victor Munoz from Osasuna. A second, Yan Diomande, slipped away once it became clear he preferred another destination. The search has only intensified since.

Now the crosshairs are firmly on Barcola.

Liverpool turn up the heat on PSG

Fabrizio Romano has moved to cool one of the more eye-catching claims around the deal: this is not a €170m saga.

“On Bradley Barcola, guys, I told you since the beginning, it is not going to be €170m,” he said on his YouTube channel, stressing that people inside the industry never believed such a fee was realistic.

The expectation remains that PSG will still demand a major sum, but nothing close to that figure.

The way this deal is being worked tells its own story. No drip-feed of formal bids, no neat sequence of “offer, rejection, improved offer” playing out in public. Instead, as Romano explains, Liverpool and PSG are in “direct exchange day by day”, with conversations flowing between directors and owners rather than through intermediaries.

The message from his side is clear: “The deal is alive.” Liverpool want Barcola and want him soon. Romano’s expectation is that the Premier League club will “go very strong” in the coming days to try to force a breakthrough.

They still need PSG’s final green light for the trademark “Here we go”, but the intent from Merseyside is not in doubt.

Barcola in, Gakpo out?

Barcola is being lined up primarily for the left, but Liverpool’s rebuild out wide doesn’t stop there. Two bids have already gone in for Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh as they look to plug the gap on the right as well.

There is another moving piece. Romano has underlined that Liverpool want one more attacking signing if Cody Gakpo leaves, with Tottenham and Manchester City both circling. Gakpo’s future could end up shaping the scale of this late-window overhaul.

That sense of movement is echoed in France. Ben Jacobs reports that PSG sources now “expect” Barcola to leave before the deadline, with Liverpool the club in active talks.

Jacobs wrote on X that insiders at the Ligue 1 champions anticipate Barcola’s exit as negotiations with Liverpool continue. On the other side of the equation, he adds that Tottenham are still pushing for Gakpo, while Manchester City are interested but, as of Monday night, had not yet made a direct approach to Liverpool.

So the picture is sharp. Liverpool are driving hard for Barcola. PSG staff increasingly believe he will go. And if Gakpo is prised away by Tottenham or City, the late scramble for wide forwards at Anfield could turn into a full-scale reshaping of Jürgen Klopp’s old front line in a single window.
