Liverpool Targets Bradley Barcola Amid PSG's High Demands

Liverpool’s pursuit of Bradley Barcola has moved from slow burn to live fire.

The club have made the Paris Saint-Germain winger their primary attacking target after missing out on Yan Diomande, and talks are active. The problem is obvious: the price.

Reports from The Athletic say PSG are demanding around €180m for Barcola. That figure would make him the third most expensive signing in football history. For a player who is not a guaranteed starter in Paris, it is a number that stops you in your tracks.

PSG, though, are unmoved. Inside the French champions, the belief is that Barcola should command a far higher fee than someone like Morgan Rogers, who went for £117m earlier this summer. On pure talent and upside, it is a reasonable stance. On market sanity, less so. Both valuations sit in the same inflated bracket, and Liverpool know it.

So the strategy from Anfield is clear: drag that fee down. The most realistic way to do that is not through negotiation theatrics, but by changing PSG’s internal equation. If Luis Enrique has other forwards he trusts, Barcola becomes less essential. Less essential usually means less expensive.
