Justin Bieber’s World Cup Sneakers Auction for Charity

The 2026 FIFA World Cup final already had history on its side. Justin Bieber just added another layer to it — with a pair of sneakers.

A custom pair of SKYLRK Matter Daddy low-tops, worn by Bieber during his halftime performance at the Spain v. Argentina final on July 19, has sold at Christie's for $26,400, the auction house confirmed on Wednesday (July 29).

The latte-colored shoes, trimmed with light pink accents and pulled from Bieber’s own SKYLRK apparel line, were initially expected to fetch between $2,000 and $4,000. They went for more than 10 times that.

All of it goes to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund as part of Christie's One Goal auction, a $100 million initiative designed to expand access to both education and soccer for children worldwide.

A halftime debut turned collector’s item

Bieber wore the sneakers briefly on the MetLife Stadium stage in New Jersey, during the first-ever FIFA World Cup final halftime show. Guitar in hand, he performed the acoustic ballad “Everything Hallelujah” while debuting this particular Matter Daddy colorway.

They were just one piece of an over-the-top entertainment lineup that turned the interval into an event of its own. Madonna, BTS, Shakira, Burna Boy, the Muppets’ Electric Mayhem band, Gustavo Dudamel and the New York Philharmonic all shared the stage, before set curator Chris Martin of Coldplay closed the show with the original song “We Dance” alongside the PS22 Chorus.

From that 15-minute spectacle, the memorabilia flowed — and bidders responded.

BTS pieces drive huge totals

Bieber’s shoes were part of a broader auction of stage-worn items that pulled in serious money. Clothing and accessories worn by BTS alone raised $300,300 for the charity.

  • RM’s chunky Untitled-03 black boots sold for $19,800.
  • j-hope’s black and red fingerless gloves brought in $28,600.
  • Jin’s red leather belt went for $16,500.
  • Suga’s red leather pants, featuring a sewn-in silk scarf printed with the names of all BTS members, climbed to $33,000.
  • V’s custom black silk scarf, decorated with the group’s name, demon faces and soccer balls, hit $46,200.
  • Jung Kook’s red, black and white motocross jacket matched that figure at $46,200.
  • The top BTS item, a white and red jersey with BTS patches worn by Jimin, soared to $110,000.

The numbers underline the sheer pull of the K-pop giants in a football setting that, until this year, had never staged a Super Bowl-style halftime production.

Shakira, Madonna and a global cast

The bidding wasn’t only about BTS and Bieber.

Shakira’s bright yellow costume from the official “Dai Dai” music video went under the hammer for $8,250. An Earth Ball soccer ball signed by Shakira, Kaka and FIFA president Gianni Infantino fetched $3,850, blending pop, football royalty and governance in a single piece of memorabilia.

Madonna’s contribution was as bold as her performance. A pair of bright pink, bedazzled fingerless gloves worn during her opening halftime set drew $41,800, another reminder that iconic stage pieces still command top-tier prices when tied to a global event.

Coldplay’s finishing touch

The auction also captured the quieter, more personal side of the show.

The two-page handwritten lyric sheet for Coldplay’s “We Dance” — one page with the lyrics, the other with the halftime setlist — signed by Chris Martin and bearing a message of love, sold for $15,400. A blue World Cup Earth ball inscribed with the names of the halftime performers by Martin itself brought in more than $6,000.

From boots and belts to gloves and lyric sheets, the World Cup final’s first halftime show has already left a tangible legacy. A pair of latte-colored sneakers that spent only minutes on the MetLife turf now sit at the heart of it, converted into classrooms, pitches and opportunity for children who may one day chase their own World Cup dreams.
