Juan Bezerra Leaves Zamalek for Shabab Al-Ahli

Juan Alvina Bezerra’s time at Zamalek is over almost as quickly as it began.

The club’s board, led by Hussein Labib, announced on Saturday that a final agreement has been sealed for the Brazilian’s transfer to Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai in the UAE, drawing a line under a turbulent second summer in Cairo.

One season. One league title. Then the exit door.

From key figure to absentee

Bezerra arrived last year and immediately became a central piece in the White shirt. Across all competitions he featured in 44 matches, scoring 8 goals and supplying 12 assists. His numbers mattered. His contributions pushed Zamalek through tight spots in multiple tournaments and helped deliver the Egyptian Premier League title, his first trophy with the club.

Then the mood changed.

As the new season approached, Bezerra skipped the preparation period and stayed away from matches, having made it clear he wanted to leave during the current summer window. That stance left him in a complicated position, out of the squad and out of the plans while negotiations rumbled in the background.

Cairo finally saw him return last Saturday, ending his absence from training. But he did not come back to stay. He came back to move.

Deal pushed over the line

Talks with Shabab Al-Ahli accelerated in recent days. Zamalek granted Bezerra permission to travel to the UAE for his medical, a strong signal that both sides expected a deal to go through.

Once the medical path was cleared, the paperwork followed.

In an official statement, Zamalek said: “The board of Zamalek, chaired by Hussein Labib, announces that an agreement has been reached regarding the transfer of Brazilian Juan Bezerra to Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai of the UAE, after the requirements set by Zamalek at the start of the negotiations in the summer transfer window this year were met.”

Shabab Al-Ahli marked the moment in their own style on social media, posting: “They searched for the date of the announcement.. Dubai is the destination”.

A sharp, sudden ending

For Zamalek, Bezerra’s departure is both expected and abrupt. His goals and assists had helped carry the team through last season’s challenges, only for his spell to end on his own request just as the club tried to build on a title-winning campaign.

For the Brazilian, the story now shifts from the White Castle to Dubai’s bright lights.

The question is no longer why he left Zamalek. It is what impact he will make in Shabab Al-Ahli’s colours.
