John Stones Set for Serie A Debut Against Napoli

John Stones is finally set to step into the Serie A spotlight.

The 94-cap England defender is expected to make his first league start for Inter when Cristian Chivu’s side face Napoli at San Siro on Saturday night, with Italy’s major sports outlets all in agreement. Sky Sport Italia, La Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport are all backing Stones to be named in the XI.

It has been a slow burn to this point. Stones arrived on a free transfer earlier in the summer, ending a decade at City to begin a very different chapter in Milan. Chivu has eased him in, keeping him on the bench at the start of the campaign and using him only in the closing stages of games to lock things down.
