John Mousinho Furious Over Incident Involving Krystian Bielik

Portsmouth head coach John Mousinho has admitted he was “absolutely furious” at the situation he found himself in after an incident involving Krystian Bielik and a supporter overshadowed Saturday’s win over Cardiff City.

The flashpoint came late in the second half as Cardiff defender Bielik went to collect the ball from the crowd. A confrontation followed, drawing players and officials into a tense few moments that cut through the rhythm of Portsmouth’s victory.

After the game, Hampshire Police confirmed they had opened an investigation into an incident “in which a teenage boy was reportedly the victim of a common assault”.

Mousinho initially apologised to Cardiff’s players and condemned the behaviour of the supporters involved. At that stage, he was working only from what he had been told in the immediate aftermath.

By midweek, that had changed.

“I’ve now seen the footage and my comments post-match were entirely based off what I was told,” Mousinho told BBC Radio Solent on Wednesday, during his pre-match media duties ahead of Portsmouth’s clash with Charlton.

He explained that he had no clear view of the confrontation as it unfolded.

“When the altercation kicked off I couldn’t see it from where I was myself,” he said. “The referee then spoke to us and his words at the time were very clear that he had seen the incident in its entirety.

“He said that as Krystian went over to get the ball, the fan slapped him, and a second fan threw a ball at Perry Ng’s head.”

The footage has sharpened Mousinho’s perspective and hardened his frustration. The police investigation continues, and so does Portsmouth’s season, now carrying an off-field storyline the head coach clearly never wanted.
