Jeremy Doku Commits to Manchester City Until 2031

Jeremy Doku has committed his peak years to Manchester City, signing a new five-year contract that ties him to the Premier League champions until at least 2031.

For City’s new head coach Enzo Maresca, it is a statement signing without a transfer fee. One of Europe’s most electric wingers, locked in before a ball is kicked in the new campaign on August 21.

Doku chooses City – and Maresca

Since arriving from Rennes in 2023, Doku has grown from raw talent into one of the most explosive forwards in England. He has racked up 22 goals and 34 assists in 131 appearances for City, driving them to the Premier League title, the Club World Cup, the FA Cup and the League Cup.

Those numbers only tell part of the story. His acceleration, his willingness to take on defenders and his end product have turned him into a key part of City’s attacking armoury.

The 24-year-old made it clear this was not just about security. Maresca’s arrival to replace Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium played a decisive role in his choice to extend.

“I have loved my time at City so far, so to have the opportunity to stay for longer is a fantastic feeling,” Doku said after signing. “This club means so much to me – I have developed as both a player and a person. I feel settled here, and I know I am improving every day because of the work the staff here do.

“With Enzo here now I am really excited about the new season. His style of football is the kind we love, so that's exciting for the players.”

A core piece for City and Belgium

Doku’s rise has not been confined to club level. He has already collected 48 caps for Belgium and featured at the most recent World Cup, underlining his status as a cornerstone for both club and country.

City director of football Hugo Viana underlined just how central the winger has become to the club’s plans.

“Jeremy is a huge talent whose improvement since joining us in 2023 is clear for all to see,” Viana said. “He has a special dynamic. He has the right characteristics for what we are looking for in a winger. He really does bring a special quality to our team.

“He deserves this new deal, and I know he will continue his improvement in the coming months and years.”

City have lost a legendary figure in Guardiola but moved quickly to protect the core of the squad Maresca will inherit. Doku’s signature is a clear message: the champions intend to evolve, not reset, under their new coach.
