Jadon Sancho's Next Move: Premier League Interest and Borussia Dortmund Link

Jadon Sancho is back on the market, and the Premier League has taken notice.

Two unnamed top-flight clubs have opened talks with the winger’s camp over a return to England, with discussions ongoing as he weighs up his next move for the season ahead, according to TeamTalk.

Sancho is a free agent after his Manchester United contract expired, which means the closed transfer window is no barrier. He can sign at any point. For a player whose career has stalled alarmingly since his early Borussia Dortmund days, the timing is critical.

A flat year at Villa

His most recent audition did little to shift the narrative.

Sancho spent the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Aston Villa, but never truly convinced Unai Emery he was worth building around. He managed just nine Premier League starts and failed to score in any of his 23 league appearances.

For a player once defined by end product, that barren return told its own story.

Villa, who sanctioned major attacking exits in Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins, still chose not to push for a permanent deal. Even with space in the forward line, the club walked away. That decision underlined how far Sancho’s stock has fallen in England.

Dortmund door opens again

And yet, one option refuses to disappear.

It would not be a transfer window without Jadon Sancho being linked with a reunion at Borussia Dortmund. The German club had initially stepped back from the idea this summer, content to move in a different direction.

Then came the twist. A long-term injury to new signing Giannis Konstantelias has forced Dortmund to reassess their attacking options and look towards the free agent market. Inevitably, Sancho’s name has resurfaced.

The numbers from his time at the Westfalenstadion still jump off the page: 53 goals and 67 assists in 158 games across his two spells. In Dortmund colours, he looked liberated, decisive, devastating.

A return would hand him Champions League football this season and a familiar environment that has already brought out his best. Less scrutiny than the Premier League. Less chaos than Manchester United. More trust than he found at Villa.

Stay in England, attempt to rebuild his reputation in the unforgiving glare of the Premier League, or retreat to the place where he once looked like one of Europe’s most exciting wide forwards.
