Inter Moves on Motta and Targets Dortmund's Reggiani

Inter have moved on one academy product and set their sights firmly on another. The club have officially sold Matteo Motta to Pescara, while again sounding out Borussia Dortmund over highly rated Italian defender Luca Reggiani.

Motta, a 21-year-old left-back formed in the Nerazzurri’s youth ranks, completed a permanent switch to Serie C side Pescara after his loan spell at Lumezzane. He never made a competitive appearance for Inter’s senior team, but the club have not cut ties entirely: they have retained 50 per cent of any future sell-on fee, a clear bet that his value could rise away from San Siro.

As one door closes, Inter are trying to prise another one open in Germany.

Reports from Bild state that Inter have once more asked Dortmund about the availability of Reggiani, the 18-year-old central defender who has exploded onto the scene in the Bundesliga.

Reggiani came through the Sassuolo academy before making a bold move abroad, joining Borussia Dortmund in February 2024. The decision paid off quickly. He grew rapidly in Germany, earning his first senior Italy cap at just 18 in June 2026, a marker of how sharply his reputation has climbed.

That rise is precisely why Inter are circling – and why Dortmund are refusing to budge.

The German club are described as determined to keep hold of the Italian, having only recently extended his contract. The message from Dortmund is clear: Reggiani is part of their project, not a bargaining chip.

Inter, then, find themselves in a familiar position in the modern market: cashing in smartly on one homegrown talent, while chasing another who may already be out of reach.
