Inter Milan Completes £30m Signing of Curtis Jones from Liverpool

Inter Milan have completed the signing of Curtis Jones from Liverpool in a deal worth up to £30m, prising the midfielder away from his boyhood club after 16 years on Merseyside.

The Serie A champions will pay an initial £25.7m, with a further £4.3m tied to performance-related add-ons. Liverpool have also secured a 10% sell-on clause, while Jones has committed to a long-term contract at San Siro running until 2031.

A boyhood Red, gone at 25

Jones joined Liverpool’s academy at the age of nine and grew into one of the club’s standout homegrown products, eventually making his senior debut under Jurgen Klopp in 2019. From that first step into a packed Anfield to his final outing, he amassed 228 appearances in all competitions.

Last season under Klopp, and then Arne Slot, he featured 49 times. The raw numbers sound strong, but the detail tells the story: only 18 of those came as Premier League starts. As Liverpool reshaped their midfield and Jones entered the final year of his contract, his route to a guaranteed starting role narrowed.

The club, facing a decision on his future, chose to cash in rather than risk losing him for less down the line. Inter, sensing opportunity, moved decisively.

Inter’s English trend continues

Jones now becomes the latest English player to sign for Inter this summer, adding another Premier League accent to Simone Inzaghi’s squad as they look to defend their Serie A title and push deeper into Europe.

For Liverpool, it is the end of a long, carefully nurtured journey. For Jones, at 25, it is the start of something entirely different: a leading role in Milan, a new league, a new language, and the chance to prove he belongs at the heart of a champion’s midfield.
