Ferran Torres Moves Closer to PSG as Barcelona Softens Stance

Ferran Torres is moving closer to the Camp Nou exit, and this time the path looks clear. According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Deutschland, the 26-year-old has reached a personal agreement with Paris Saint-Germain, with the French champions now in direct talks with Barcelona over a transfer.

“This has been the plan for several days already,” Plettenberg reports. PSG have circled, waited, and now finally made their move.

Barcelona soften their stance

The shift has not come out of nowhere. Last week, transfer specialist Matteo Moretto revealed that Torres is open to joining PSG. Crucially, Barcelona are no longer treating him as untouchable, which removes the biggest obstacle from any negotiation.

Talks over a new Barcelona deal had already hit a wall. His contract runs until mid-2027, but discussions reportedly “completely stalled” some time ago. From that moment, PSG stayed close, sensing an opportunity.

Back in mid-July, Sky Italia reported that the Ligue 1 side were keen to do business with Barcelona. Now that personal terms are agreed, the focus is on the clubs finding common ground on a fee.

Barcelona, for their part, are ready to cash in. Torres’ stock has risen sharply after his decisive extra-time goal fired Spain to the world title in a 1-0 win over Argentina, and the Catalan club know this is the moment to monetise his new status.

PSG rebuild their attack

The move also fits PSG’s changing landscape in attack. Gonçalo Ramos has departed for AC Milan and Lee Kang-in has joined Atlético Madrid. Bradley Barcola is widely expected to follow them out of Paris, while doubts still hang over Ibrahim Mbaye’s future.

The forward line that once looked crowded now has clear gaps. Torres, with his ability to operate across the front line and his pedigree at both club and international level, offers an immediate solution.

PSG have been tracking him for some time, waiting for Barcelona’s resolve to weaken. That moment appears to have arrived.

Godts also in the frame

Torres is not the only name on the PSG recruitment board. The club are pushing hard to sign Ajax winger Mika Godts, another wide player who has already agreed personal terms and is open to the move. As with Torres, the final hurdle is an agreement between clubs, this time with Ajax.

Two wide forwards, both keen, both already aligned with PSG’s project. If Paris can now close the deals with Barcelona and Ajax, Luis Enrique’s attacking options will look very different by the time the new season settles into rhythm.

The question is no longer whether PSG want Ferran Torres. It is how quickly Barcelona are prepared to let him go.
