Ferran Torres Nears PSG Move as Barça Training Continues

Ferran Torres is already living with one foot out of Barcelona.

For the second morning in a row, the 26-year-old forward skipped FC Barcelona training on Thursday, with the club’s permission, as his move to PSG accelerates towards completion. He was scheduled to rejoin Hansi Flick’s sessions on Wednesday. Instead, he has been tied up with the final details of a transfer that now looks all but done.

Barcelona and the French – and European – champions are locked in the last round of talks. The operation is expected to close at around €55 million, add-ons included, according to multiple well-placed sources.

On the player’s side, everything is already in place. Ferran has an agreement with PSG, where Luis Enrique has outlined a clear plan for his role and integration. That roadmap has helped smooth the negotiations and explains why Barça have maintained their stance of allowing him to stay away from group training while the paperwork is wrapped up.

So Torres remains absent from Flick’s sessions, simply waiting for both clubs to sign off and turn an open secret into an official announcement.

World Cup winners filter back in

While one Spain international edges towards the exit, others are filtering back into the core of Flick’s squad.

Of the four World Cup players who returned on Wednesday and initially worked on individual programmes, three stepped back into full group training at the start of Thursday’s session: Pau Cubarsi, Dani Olmo and Lamine Yamal.

Their presence instantly lifts the level and intensity of the drills, a welcome boost as Barça move through the sharp end of their pre-season work.

Pedri, though, remains on a different path. The midfielder continued his recovery work in the gym and did not appear on the pitch with the rest of the group, as the staff manage his workload carefully.

Six in limbo as Barça trim the squad

Away from the headline names, a cluster of young players are stuck in an awkward holding pattern.

Until solutions are found, those players remain on the margins, working but not truly belonging to either the first team or their next destination.

Academy faces stay close to the action

Not every youngster is in limbo. Some have earned a longer look.

A group of reserve-team and academy players continues to train under Flick’s orders: Aron Yaakobishvili – himself close to a move to Almeria – Alvaro Cortes, Xavi Espart, Jordi Pesquer, Ebrima Tunkara, Orian Goren, Brian Farinas and forward Hamza Abdelkarim.

They are living the daily rhythm of the first team, fighting for minutes, impressions and, in some cases, simply the right to stay in the coach’s notebook when the competitive games begin.

As Ferran Torres edges towards Paris and the senior squad reshapes around Flick’s ideas, those training-ground battles at Sant Joan Despí may end up deciding who becomes part of Barcelona’s next core – and who has to chase that dream somewhere else.
