Dominik Szoboszlai Signs Long-Term Contract with Liverpool

Liverpool have locked down one of the pillars of their future. Dominik Szoboszlai, the club’s number eight and creative heartbeat, has signed a new long-term contract that is reported to run until the end of the 2030/31 season.

For the Hungarian, this is no routine piece of paperwork.

“It’s maybe my biggest day,” the 25-year-old said, placing the moment alongside the day he first signed for Liverpool and the birth of his child. In footballing terms, he called it a top-three occasion. That is the weight he gives to staying at Anfield.

He spoke like a player who sees no ceiling on what comes next. “Very happy. [I] can’t wait to go again and again and again. I’m just happy to be here, as I said many times."

Szoboszlai arrived from RB Leipzig three years ago with a reputation for flair and productivity. He has since grown into far more than a stylish midfielder. He has become a reference point in Liverpool’s system, the man who knits together tempo, territory and threat.

That influence shone through in a difficult 2025/26 campaign for the club. While Liverpool laboured, Szoboszlai drove on. Across 53 games in all competitions he produced 13 goals and 12 assists, numbers that underlined both his resilience and his responsibility in the side. The club’s response was emphatic: he was named Men’s Player of the Year.

Those performances turned a signing into a statement. This new contract turns that statement into a plan.

Liverpool now have one of their prime creators tied to the club through what should be the peak of his career. For a fanbase that has watched him drag games to his rhythm, the idea of five more years of that energy and ambition will feel like more than simple squad planning.

Szoboszlai has made it clear he wants to “go again and again and again.” Liverpool have just ensured he will be doing it in red.
