Djed Spence Set for Serie A Move to Inter Milan

Djed Spence is on the brink of a new life in Serie A, with Inter waiting for him in Milan tonight and a medical booked for Friday to seal a €35m move from Tottenham Hotspur.

After days of hard bargaining, the two clubs finally reached an agreement this week: a fixed fee of €31.5m, with bonuses lifting the total package to €35m. Tottenham have also secured a 10 per cent cut of any future sale, a sign they still believe there is more value to come from the England international.

Spence, who featured for England at the FIFA World Cup 2026, has already prepared for the switch. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the defender has packed his bags and is expected to land in Milan this evening, where Inter will park him in a hotel for the night before a crucial day of tests.

Friday's Formalities

Friday brings the formalities. First, the standard medical examinations with Inter’s staff. Then the checks with CONI specialists, as required in Italy before a major signing is cleared to play. Only after that can the paperwork catch up with the reality of the move.

Waiting for him is a five-year contract. The deal is believed to be worth €2.6m per season, with performance-related bonuses layered on top, a long-term investment in a player Inter see as part of their core for seasons to come.

There is already a hint of symbolism in his choice of number. It has been suggested Spence will wear the Number 24 shirt, once carried at San Siro by another former Tottenham player, Christian Eriksen. Now it is set to belong to a flying full-back swapping north London for Nerazzurri colours, and a new chapter in Italy.
