David Oduro Leaves Barça Atletic for Annecy

David Oduro’s Barcelona chapter is over before it ever really had the chance to take off.

The 20-year-old left-back, who arrived at Barça Atletic two years ago and was under contract until 2027, has completed a move to Annecy in France’s Ligue 2. The Haute-Savoie club confirmed his signing on Saturday, handing the Ghanaian defender a fresh start across the border.

Oduro was part of the group of African talents brought in by Barcelona in recent seasons, arriving alongside Aziz Issah and Ibrahim Diarra with the idea of growing within the club’s structure. That plan stalled almost immediately.

His first campaign was badly disrupted by bureaucratic problems that took weeks to clear, restricting him to just 10 appearances. By the time the paperwork finally eased, the season had already slipped away from him.

Last season told a different story. Oduro’s role grew, he found rhythm, and he finished the year with 23 matches played. The left-back began to look settled in the Barça Atletic setup, offering energy down the flank and giving the coaching staff a reliable option.

Now, instead of pushing on in Spain, he will try to turn that progress into something more permanent in France’s second tier.

Left-back shake-up under Belletti

His departure is part of a broader reset on the left side of Juliano Belletti’s defence. Neither Oduro nor Jofre Torrents – who has joined Ajax – will be in the squad this season, stripping Barça Atletic of two familiar faces in the same position.

The club has already moved to reshape the role. Josué Caicedo has arrived and impressed in pre-season, quickly positioning himself as a serious candidate to claim the spot. His performances have given Belletti at least one immediate solution.

Another key decision hangs over Jordi Pesquer. After spending time training with the first team, the club must now define his place for the coming campaign and whether he will be a regular piece in Belletti’s plans.

Depth still exists. Alex Walton is in the squad, and Patricio Pacifico is also on the books, though the latter will be out for a significant period as he recovers from an ACL injury. To cover gaps and test options, Belletti has even tried Landry Farre at left-back in recent sessions.

Oduro moves on, chasing minutes and stability in Annecy. Barça Atletic, meanwhile, walk into the new season with a rebuilt left flank and a clear question: who will make that position their own?
