Daniel Bentley Joins Coventry City’s Ambitious Project
Daniel Bentley has wasted no time setting the tone at Coventry City. The experienced goalkeeper arrives talking about standards, leadership and a club he believes is on the rise.
Fresh from signing his deal, Bentley made it clear this move is about more than just a change of shirt.
“Coventry City is a fantastic club and I'm really happy to get this deal over the line,” he told the club’s official website, describing a set-up that feels alive after last season’s surge. The atmosphere around the training ground has struck him immediately – a club still buzzing from a “fantastic season” and braced for another push.
“It feels like a place that is developing and, off the back of a fantastic season last year, there is a really good feel around the place. It is really positive and there is an obvious excitement to go into the new season with the aim of being as successful as possible,” he said.
This is not a keeper turning up to make up the numbers. Bentley spoke with the authority of a player who knows exactly what he is walking into and what he expects of himself.
“I will bring a lot of experience. I'm a senior player with good leadership qualities and I'm someone who has really high standards. I want to make my mark on the pitch as well, of course.”
That last point matters. Coventry already have a strong goalkeeping department, and Bentley knows he will have to fight for his place.
“There is a really good goalkeeping group here. When I get my opportunity, it is down to me to take it. I want to help the club get results in the Premier League.”
The message is clear: Bentley has come to Coventry to compete, to drive standards, and to help turn that “really good feel” into something far more concrete.
