Curtis Jones Joins Inter Milan as English Revolution Grows

Curtis Jones has walked away from a lifetime at Liverpool to join the growing English enclave at Inter Milan, signing a long-term deal with the Italian champions that runs until 2031.

The 25-year-old becomes the third Englishman to arrive at San Siro in the space of a few weeks, following right-back Djed Spence and centre-back John Stones, as Inter lean heavily into Premier League experience ahead of their Serie A title defence.

Inter confirmed Jones’ arrival with a nod to the scale of the change in his life and in their own history.

“After a lifetime with Liverpool, the midfielder leaves his home country for the first time, joining fellow England internationals John Stones and Djed Spence and becoming the sixth Englishman in Inter's history,” the club said, calling it “a new, incredible adventure — one he can approach with the confidence that has accompanied him throughout his life.”

Italian media report that Inter will pay Liverpool €35 million (around $40.8 million) for the academy graduate, a significant fee for a player who has grown up entirely inside the Anfield system.

For Jones, the move ends a 16-year association with his boyhood club. He chose Instagram to say goodbye.

“After 16 years, it's time to say goodbye,” he wrote. “I came here as a kid with a dream of playing for Liverpool and I've been lucky enough to actually live that dream. Liverpool will be a massive part of me.”

His departure underlines the scale of change at Inter as well. In 118 years of history, only three English players had represented the Milan giants before this year. They now have six, with Jones, Spence and Stones joining that previously exclusive group.

Spence, like Jones, has signed a contract through to 2031, while Stones arrived on a free after his deal at Manchester City expired. All three will be available as Inter open their Serie A campaign against Monza on Saturday.

A Scudetto to defend, the Champions League to chase, and now a core of England internationals in the dressing room. Inter have made their bet on Premier League steel. The question is simple: how far can this new English spine carry them in Italy and beyond?
