Cristiano Ronaldo is now staring down a number that once sounded like fantasy: 1,000 career goals. After Friday night, it suddenly feels close.

The 39-year-old struck the winner in Al Nassr’s 2-1 victory over Al Taawoun, moving his career haul to a staggering 978 goals. Twenty-two more, and he hits four figures. The chase is very real.

Ronaldo is now Al Nassr’s all-time top scorer in the Saudi Pro League era, moving to 104 league goals and nudging past Mohammad Al Sahlawi’s mark of 103.
