Benjamin Sesko's Return: Goal and Disappointment

Benjamin Sesko marked his return from injury with a goal – and a grimace.

The 23-year-old striker stepped back into the spotlight with a crucial strike, only to see his side concede in the final seconds and let victory slip away. The late blow cut straight through any personal satisfaction.

“We're very disappointed of course because we were very close [to winning] and yet so far,” Sesko told MUTV, still processing the chaos of the finale. “To concede a goal like that in the last minute, it's painful for everyone because everyone was giving everything to try and win the game. Every single person here wants that. In the moments like this where a last shot decides it, it's very painful.”

The goal should have been a pure release for him. Fitness problems wrecked most of his pre-season, leaving him chasing rhythm and sharpness while others built theirs. Here, finally, was a reminder of what he brings: movement, presence, a finish that usually decides tight games.

Instead of a matchwinner, it became a footnote to a gut-punch.

Sesko refused to dwell on the frustration for long. He knows what his role is, and he knows how much he has missed it.

“For me, it's the best feeling when I'm scoring, especially for the club like that,” he said. “When I can provide the goals and the points for the team – it's my job at the end of the day. It's nice to be back with the team to experience all the games again. Of course I wish today that we had won, but we can't change that.”

The words carried the mix of pride and regret that defines nights like this. A personal step forward, a collective step wasted.

So he turned quickly to what comes next.

“It's really important to take everything as positive even when it's not the best option from today,” Sesko added. “To see the game in a good light, to try and improve and focus for the next game.”

The goal proves he is back. The question now is whether the team can match his response when the next late chance falls their way.
