He broke his leg last summer in Bayern’s Club World Cup match against Paris Saint-Germain, an injury that ruled him out for months. He only returned to Bundesliga action at the start of 2026, rebuilding rhythm and confidence in time for the World Cup.

That recovery powered him into a central role for Germany at the 2026 tournament, where Julian Nagelsmann leaned heavily on his creativity and composure. Germany’s campaign ended in shock in the round of 32 with elimination by Paraguay, but Musiala’s importance to both club and country was never in doubt.
