Barcelona Transfer Update: Six Players Removed from First-Team Training

The holidays are over. The World Cup stragglers are back. And at FC Barcelona, the squad is finally starting to look like the one Hansi Flick will take into the season.

With the transfer window entering its final stretch, Barça have quietly taken a hard step: six players who had been working daily under Flick have been removed from the main training group and placed on individual programmes, a clear signal that their futures lie away from the first team.

The move comes in the shadow of Roony Bardghji’s serious injury on Monday, an incident that has sharpened nerves inside the club. At such a delicate point in the market, Barça are in no mood to gamble with players whose situations are unresolved.

Six on the outside

According to Carlos Monfort of SPORT, Jofre Torrents, Marc Casado, Hector Fort, Tommy Marques, Toni Fernandez and Guille Fernandez are now training separately from the core group.

Each case is different. The message is not.

Torrents is the most straightforward. The left-back is on the verge of becoming an Ajax player, with the deal agreed for days. Only administrative details have held up the official announcement. Inside the club, his departure is treated as a matter of hours, not days.

Casado, by contrast, is still in the middle of his crossroads. The midfielder has offers on the table from Saudi Arabia and interest from several European clubs. He is weighing his options, choosing his next step rather than rushing into it, while Barça wait for him to make up his mind.

On the opposite flank, Fort finds himself in a similar position of transition. The right-back understands that his future lies away from the Spotify Camp Nou, and his market is heating up. Several Premier League clubs have tracked him, with Fulham among those keen on a permanent transfer. For a young defender raised at La Masia, that represents both a challenge and an opportunity.

Tommy Marques has also been told his path is leading elsewhere. The midfielder learned last week that he must secure a new destination before the window closes. Barça’s preference is clear: a permanent sale. But the club are prepared to consider a loan if bids fall short of their valuation. SC Braga have already stepped forward and are waiting for an answer.

La Masia jewels at a crossroads

The list is completed by two of La Masia’s most gifted prospects, Toni Fernandez and Guille Fernandez. Both impressed enough to be included in the first phase of pre-season, both have attracted strong interest, and both now stand at a decisive moment.

Clubs across Europe are circling, with proposals ranging from straight transfers to loan deals. Barça, conscious of their potential, are inclined to renew their contracts before authorising any loan exits, protecting the long-term asset while allowing them to grow elsewhere.

For now, the pair train away from Flick’s main group, their immediate futures tied less to tactics and more to negotiations and phone calls. They have options. They must now choose.
