Pre-season victories over Monaco (2-0) and Espanyol (3-1) hinted at growing belief. That momentum carried into competitive action with a 4-0 demolition of Watford and a 3-1 win over Wrexham in the Championship. The only blemish was a goalless draw with Northampton Town in July. Across those five games, Coventry scored nine and kept two clean sheets, a record that gives Lampard’s side every reason to attack this challenge head-on.

History paints a one-sided picture

When these clubs meet, the record is brutally clear. Arsenal have won all of the last five recorded clashes, scoring 16 and conceding just once.
