Arsenal Opens Transfer Talks with Galatasaray for Martinelli
Arsenal have opened a potential transfer corridor to Galatasaray, holding talks over the sale of several squad players to the Turkish champions in the current window.
Among the names placed on the table are Gabriel Martinelli and highly rated youngster Ethan Nwaneri, with the Gunners understood to be inviting offers as they reshape Mikel Arteta’s squad.
The headline proposal is a verbal offer of around €45m (£38.5m) for Brazil international Martinelli. It is a serious number, and one that would test many clubs’ resolve. The forward, though, is reluctant to swap north London for Istanbul at this stage of his career, according to sources close to the discussions.
So the money is there. The appetite from Turkey is clear. The player, for now, is not convinced.
Talks between Arsenal and Galatasaray have gone beyond just outgoing names. During negotiations, the future of Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has also been raised, adding another intriguing layer to a conversation already thick with possibility. No agreement is in place, but the fact his situation formed part of the dialogue underlines the scale of the relationship both clubs are exploring.
Martinelli’s market has already shifted once this summer. Paris St‑Germain showed tentative interest in recent weeks, sounding out the possibility of a deal, but the French champions have since turned to other targets, leaving Galatasaray as the most active suitor so far.
For Arsenal, the window now poses a familiar question: cash in on valuable assets to fund the next phase of Arteta’s rebuild, or hold firm on a forward who still carries the promise of match‑winning nights at the Emirates?
