Arsenal Signs Liverpool's Prolific Young Striker Vincent Joseph

Arsenal have struck an agreement with highly rated Liverpool youngster Vincent Joseph, moving them a step closer to landing one of England’s most prolific teenage forwards.

The 16-year-old striker has agreed to join the Gunners this summer, with The Athletic reporting that only a compensation settlement with Liverpool stands between Arsenal and their latest academy recruit.

Tribunal looms if clubs can’t agree

Because Joseph is just 16 and out of contract, Liverpool are still entitled to compensation for his development. The two clubs are now locked in talks over a fee. If they fail to find common ground, a tribunal will set the figure.

It’s a familiar route for cross‑Premier League youth moves, but this one carries extra intrigue. Joseph has just broken into u18 Premier League football, scoring three goals in only two appearances for Liverpool’s youngsters last season. The step up hinted at a pathway on Merseyside. It wasn’t enough to convince him to sign fresh terms.

He has chosen a different route.

A ruthless record for England

Joseph’s numbers for England underline why Arsenal have pushed hard. The striker has hit eight goals in nine games for the England u16s, all during the 2025/26 campaign. That kind of return at international youth level tends to draw a crowd. Arsenal have moved early.

The club have been scouring the market for emerging centre-forwards in recent windows. They lost out to Liverpool in the chase for Will Wright last year. That one stung. This time, the roles are reversed.

Arsenal reload their academy attack

Joseph is part of a wider youth rebuild at Hale End and London Colney. Arsenal have already agreed terms with Crystal Palace prospect Mylo Bernard, another attacking addition for their academy ranks.

They have also brought in Elijah Upson from Tottenham Hotspur, raiding a north London rival, and are set to complete the signing of Axel Donczew from Cardiff City.

Of the quartet, Donczew is the only player who was not out of contract this summer. Arsenal’s willingness to move for three youngsters coming off deals at Premier League clubs sends a clear message: they are ready to exploit stalled negotiations elsewhere and hoover up elite talent for their own pathway.

For now, the paperwork and formalities remain. Joseph, Bernard and Donczew all have moves to finalise and announcements to follow.

Once the ink dries, Arsenal’s academy forward line will look very different – and a little more dangerous.
