Arsenal Targets Liverpool Star Vincent Joseph for Academy Rebuild

Arsenal are on the verge of prising highly rated teenager Vincent Joseph away from Liverpool, in another aggressive move to restock their academy with elite young talent.

An agreement is already in place between Arsenal and the England youth international, according to The Athletic, after Joseph chose not to sign scholarship terms at Anfield this summer when his schoolboy registration expired.

The 16-year-old striker now looks set to switch from Merseyside to north London, with the two clubs locked in talks over a compensation fee.

The pressure is on to find common ground. Because Joseph is under 24 and never signed a professional deal with Liverpool, any failure to agree a figure will send the case to a tribunal to decide the amount Arsenal must pay.

Arsenal are pushing hard because the numbers behind Joseph’s rise are difficult to ignore. He has hit eight goals in nine games for England’s under-16s and already stepped up to Liverpool’s under-18 Premier League side last season, where he scored three times in just two appearances.

This is not a one-off raid. It fits a clear pattern.

Arsenal have already beaten Liverpool to the signature of teenage goalkeeper Phoenix Blayney, underlining a deliberate strategy to compete aggressively in the youth market as much as in the first team.

Blayney’s move is effectively lined up. His father, Alan Blayney, revealed earlier in the summer that the framework of the deal is already agreed, with a pre-contract to be signed when the timing suits and a professional contract to follow when the youngster turns 17 in November 2027.

“Everything has been agreed with Arsenal, he just needs to sign the contract,” Alan Blayney told the Belfast Telegraph. “When he’s 17, he will sign a professional contract. It’s done and dusted and a pre-contract will be signed when the time is right.”

Arsenal are also closing in on Cardiff City prospect Axel Donczew, another statement of intent in the youth market.

Donczew made history in Wales last season, becoming Cardiff’s youngest ever first-team player when he featured against Newport County in the EFL Trophy on October 25, aged just 15 years and 234 days.

One by one, Arsenal are assembling some of the most coveted teenagers in Britain. The question now is how many of them will turn those bold academy bets into first-team reality at the Emirates.
