Arsenal Eye Marcus Rashford as Gabriel Martinelli Replacement

Arsenal are weighing up a move for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford as a replacement for Gabriel Martinelli, according to the UK Telegraph.

Martinelli is set to leave the Emirates in a deal worth more than £50 million, a fee that would represent a club-record sale for the Gunners. The Brazil winger has reportedly given the green light to a switch to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal, having earlier turned down interest from Galatasaray.

The timing has raised eyebrows inside the club. The report notes “some internal surprise” at Arsenal sanctioning Martinelli’s exit before locking down a successor for his position on the left.

Now the Premier League champions are expected to turn to Rashford, exploring the possibility of bringing him in on a loan deal. The England international has spent each of the last two seasons away from Old Trafford on loan at Aston Villa and Barcelona, and could be handed a fresh start in north London if Arsenal push ahead.
