Osimhen back on the Premier League radar

Osimhen has been here before. Two years ago, Chelsea held advanced talks with Napoli over a move that would have brought the Nigeria international to England. It never happened. Instead, he headed to Istanbul, joining Galatasaray initially on loan before the Turkish club made the transfer permanent for €75m (£64.8m) last summer.

Since then, he has been devastating.

The 27-year-old has fired Galatasaray to back-to-back league titles, scoring 59 goals in 74 games and imposing himself as the dominant centre-forward in Turkey. Across his club career, the numbers are even more imposing: 173 goals in 297 appearances.

That kind of output has finally pushed him firmly onto Arsenal’s radar. His name has been raised in discussions between the clubs, with those talks originally centring on potential moves for Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri.

Osimhen has also been offered to Tottenham this summer, underlining how ready his camp is for a Premier League move. This time, Arsenal are listening.

Galatasaray interest opens the door

The potential for a deal does not rest solely on Arsenal’s desire. Galatasaray’s interest in Martinelli could be the key.

The Turkish champions have already lodged a €45m (£38.4m) bid for the Brazilian. That move is complicated by Martinelli’s stance – he is reported to be unconvinced by a switch to the Turkish league – but the very fact a formal offer exists gives Arsenal leverage in negotiations.

Alongside that, Arsenal have put Ethan Nwaneri on the table. The 19-year-old, who caught the eye on loan at Marseille last season, has reportedly been offered to Galatasaray for €40m (£34.1m), with talks between the clubs said to be progressing.

Those moving parts create a rare opportunity. While Atletico dig in over Alvarez, Galatasaray are at least at the negotiating table.

A second chance for Arsenal

Osimhen’s name is not new at the Emirates. He was offered to Arsenal two years ago, only for the club to walk away. At the time, the hierarchy feared Napoli’s demands would spiral beyond what they were prepared to pay.

The landscape has shifted. Arsenal are now champions, their project accelerated, their need for a ruthless finisher sharper than ever. Osimhen, for his part, is understood to be open to a move to north London.

The report also frames this pursuit against the backdrop of a “stunning” move involving sporting director Andrea Berta, suggesting Arsenal’s recruitment drive is gathering serious momentum behind the scenes.

If the Gunners can turn those talks with Galatasaray into a concrete agreement, they will not just have solved their No.9 dilemma. They will have landed a striker capable of reshaping the balance of power at the top of the Premier League.
