According to UOL journalist Bruno Braz, Vasco offered a clause allowing Richarlison to move abroad after only a few months, and Spurs were happy with the financial package.

Richarlison refused a permanent transfer and instead pushed to terminate his Tottenham contract, then join Vasco until the end of the year before reassessing in January. Spurs did not go down that route, leaving the Brazilian stuck in limbo.

He has already seen moves to Everton and Trabzonspor fall apart over personal terms. Now, unless something dramatic changes, he faces up to four months without senior competitive football before the window reopens and the whole story restarts.

Tottenham’s new powerbroker and a Brighton target

The club are said to be keen on appointing Piero Ausilio as their new sporting director ahead of January. Ausilio, who has spent more than 20 years at Inter, worked closely with Roberto De Zerbi during his time in Italy.
