Anthony Musaba Joins Norwich City on Loan from Fenerbahce

Anthony Musaba has sealed a season-long loan move to Norwich City, reuniting with head coach Philippe Clement and giving the Championship side a much-needed injection of attacking pace on the left.

The 25-year-old joins from Fenerbahce on a straight loan, with the Turkish club agreeing to cover a proportion of his salary. Norwich explored the possibility of inserting a purchase option, but with Musaba tied to a lucrative contract until 2030, the numbers never stacked up for a permanent commitment.

This deal is very much about the here and now.

Clement reunion and a timely solution

Norwich were forced back into the market when left winger Ali Ahmed suffered a serious knee ligament injury in the final pre-season friendly against Osasuna. That setback ripped a hole in Clement’s plans. Musaba arrives to fill it.

He flew into England on Monday night, completed his medical and finalised personal terms before the move was confirmed. He will wear the number 49 shirt.

For Musaba, there is a familiar face waiting at Colney. He worked under Clement at Monaco, a spell he still clearly cherishes.

“I’m really happy and excited to be here. I spoke to a lot of clubs, but I really wanted to make what I felt like was the perfect move,” Musaba told the club’s official channels.

“I got a really good feeling when I spoke to the people at this club. I know the coach too, so that was also a really big boost.

“I remember him (Philippe Clement) from my time at Monaco – I came from a loan spell and played a lot of that pre-season with him. He was always helping me, making me better, both as a person and player.”

Built for the Championship grind

This is not a blind gamble on potential. Musaba knows the division. He has already come through the slog of a Championship campaign with Sheffield Wednesday, posting 23 goal contributions in 80 appearances for the Owls.

“I know the league already. I’ve experienced it and know how tough it is, but I feel like I’ve made a lot of progression since then,” he said. “There are a lot of games to look forward to and I can’t wait to get going.”

Norwich sporting director Ben Knapper believes that experience, combined with Musaba’s physical profile, makes him an ideal fit for Clement’s aggressive, front-foot blueprint.

“I’m delighted to welcome Anthony and his family to Norwich City,” Knapper said. “We feel he is a great fit for us and his profile really suits the demands of both our team and the league more broadly.

“He is quick, powerful, direct and arrives with lots of experience throughout Europe and in the Championship specifically. We’re all excited to work with him this season and I’ve no doubt that he’ll play a key role in pushing us towards our targets.”

Building the new-look attack

Musaba becomes Norwich’s fifth senior signing of the summer and the latest piece in a reshaped attacking unit. On the opposite flank, Andre Brooks stands as the headline addition, an £8m statement of intent.

Clement now has two wingers with different profiles but the same brief: stretch teams, run at defenders, and drag Norwich up the pitch.

Norwich have not committed to Musaba beyond this season, but if his partnership with Clement clicks again in English football, the question will quickly turn from “Why a loan?” to “How do they keep him?”
